Shawn Wah founded WH Bespoke Tailoring as a solo venture in 2015, marking the beginning of his journey into the world of bespoke tailoring. This decision stemmed from his passion for precision and style, which he cultivated during his apprenticeship in his uncle's tailor shop. Driven by his enthusiasm, he aimed to revolutionize the bespoke clothing industry.
The story of WH Bespoke Tailoring is one of relentless pursuit of excellence, symbolized by the concealed 'A' in 'WAH,' signifying Shawn's unwavering commitment to perfection in every stitch.The change from 'WAH' to 'WH' was not merely a playful gesture; it also paid homage to Shawn's surname, Wah, integrating his personal style and dedication into every aspect of the business.
However, in June 2023, a significant turning point occurred in WH Bespoke's narrative when a new partner, Edmund Yap, joined the team. This new partnership marked a new era for the brand, transforming WH Bespoke Tailoring into WH Bespoke ES Partner Tailor.
Despite the transformations, Shawn Wah remains the fashionable wisdom behind the brand, infusing it with his unique vision and expertise. Complemented by Edmund's classic style, they inject fresh, youthful energy and innovation into WH Bespoke ES Partner Tailor, driving the evolution of bespoke fashion while remaining true to the brand's foundation.
While WH Bespoke ES Partner Tailor thrived under their joint leadership, WH Bespoke Tailoring showcased its prowess outside Kuala Lumpur. The story of this brand is far from over, and Shawn Wah's commitment to excellence will continue to be its cornerstone, ensuring that every client experiences nothing short of extraordinary.

Founder & Personal Stylist
began his journey in the world of tailoring as an apprentice at his uncle's tailor shop, KMC, in Kota Kinabalu, Borneo, in 1998. Intrigued by the industry, he later moved to Kuala Lumpur to delve deeper into his passion, studying Fashion Designing, Fashion Marketing, and Image Consulting. Graduating led him to the MALAYSIA-INTERNATIONAL FASHION AWARDS (MIFA), where he honed his expertise in fashion research, development, and production.
After years with MIFA, Shawn rediscovered his passion for tailoring, particularly in menswear. In 2015, he founded WH BESPOKE TAILORING, a showroom and bespoke atelier located in Kuala Lumpur City Center. Since its inception, the atelier has catered to a diverse clientele, including royalty, chevaliers, corporate figures, and esteemed individuals from Australia, the United Kingdom, South Korea, the United States, Singapore, and Malaysia.
In June 2023, Shawn expanded his horizons by venturing into the bespoke market in China. Despite the challenges, the endeavor proved fruitful, and as of 2024, WH BESPOKE continues to thrive. Stay tuned for more exciting developments as we continue to redefine the world of bespoke tailoring.
Edmund Yap
The Master Tailor with Thirty Years of Experience
In the world of tailoring, one name shines brightly as a beacon of admiration Edmund Yap. With three decades of experience as a master tailor, his career is destined to become a legend. Back in 1993, during my time at the Fashion Institute, the dean recommended me to an esteemed tailoring boss, who happened to be from a family of tailoring heritage. And thus, I crossed paths with Edmund Yap.
Edmund Yap is a treasure trove of the tailoring lineage, having honed his craft in England and becoming a distinguished representative of the British style of tailoring. From him, I learned invaluable skills and techniques, and I am forever grateful to this custodian of the tailoring heritage.
During my time in his tailoring shop, Edmund Yap proved not only to be an exceptional mentor but also a nurturing soul guide. He patiently imparted his craft, offering meticulous guidance that deepened my love and understanding of tailoring.
As time passed, I pursued further progress in the tailoring industry. Besides accumulating valuable experience at Edmund Yap’s establishment, I spent 30 years working in other tailoring shops. Eight years at Lords Tailor and twelve years at Burlington Tailor allowed me to serve numerous political figures, ministers, and business luminaries. Each bespoke creation was a challenge and a magnificent display of skill. Meeting the discerning tastes of these esteemed clientele became a significant achievement in my professional journey.
The legacy of the British style of tailoring from this illustrious tailoring family ignited a profound emotional connection with this art. Throughout this extensive career, I have strived to uphold traditional techniques while infusing my own innovations and inspirations. Every client becomes a wellspring of inspiration, fueling my drive for continuous improvement.
Edmund Yap, my mentor and enlightener, has left an enduring and profound impact. His story is not just a legend; it is a testament to conviction and perseverance. I shall continue to carry forth his spirit, contributing my part to the bright future of the tailoring lineage.
